How to delete your account

  1. Settle open items

    Before closing, make sure all orders are delivered or returned and any refunds have arrived.

  2. Mind your digital content

    Closing may cut access to your Kindle library, Prime videos and other purchased content — download what you want to keep.

  3. Request your data

    You can ask for a copy of your information via account privacy settings before closing.

  4. Close the account

    Use the Closing your account tool in account settings. Confirm with a code sent by email or text message.

Opt out of AI training

No separate AI-training opt-out is available in this service.

Amazon's Privacy Notice states that personal information is used to develop or deploy generative AI models and services, referring to a separate Generative AI Development Disclosure. The notice documents no general opt-out for this use; device-specific voice-recording controls (e.g. Alexa) exist separately.

Does closing remove my account on all Amazon sites?

Closure generally covers the sites linked to your local account. Check the tool's notice about which sites will close.

Can I reopen it later?

A closed account usually cannot be restored with the same credentials — a new account starts empty with no history.

Who receives my GDPR request?

For EU customers the controller is a separate Amazon EU entity we could not verify this session. Use Amazon's own privacy form or add the verified address to the generator manually.

  • Account deletion page Amazon has a self-service ”Close your account” flow in Account settings, but no direct URL could be verified from a source.
  • Data export The order-history and data download pages require sign-in and could not be verified.
  • Controller postal address The notice retrieved is the US Amazon.com version naming Amazon.com, Inc. EU customers fall under a separate Amazon EU entity whose name and address must be confirmed from an EU-specific privacy notice before use.
  • Privacy contact channel The notice refers to a ”Data Privacy Queries” page, but its URL was not captured. The official EU request channel still needs to be identified.
  • AI-training opt-out It remains to be verified whether EU-facing settings offer AI-training controls beyond what the US notice describes.
